brynne amelia carson

Brynne could feel the wind nipping at her ears as a heavy bass drummed in her ear, giving her a consistent tempo for her running. Today wasn't the day to be messing with the daughter of Bellona, if there ever was a good day for that. She felt her feet bouncing off the up's and down's of the hills with ease as she kept her breathing regular.

Running had become more than just exercise for the girl, now more than ever. Instead of beating up some probatio in a training session, she would just run. Things were quiet, and let her think, despite the constant blaring notes in her ears. Brynne was trying to learn to cope with her anger, and this was a way to fix it, sort of.

Dark eyes flicked across the hills, searching for any movement other than herself and the trees' branches. The wind was causing her ears to go numb, but she continued along as the music drove her. A silver chain was fastened around her neck, with her spear charm flapping against her skin every now and then. It held her weapon, something the daughter of Bellona couldn't be seen without.

A large crack snapped her out of her state of mind. Slipping the earbuds out of her ears, Brynne returned to the real world. Something was about in the hills. She clicked her spear out without hesitation. The demigod was sure nothing around Camp Jupiter could beat her, as long as she had her favorite weapon in one hand, and her mother's support. Then again, she'd never met her mother, but it kept her going some days. "Who's there?" Brynne called, taunting the sound's source.

A scowl painting over her normally attractive features, she stayed silent for a moment. The wind whistled in her ears, causing leaves to stir around her feet. "The Twelfth Legion does not allow strangers to walk about," Brynne said stiffly, the muscles in her face tensing, as well as her grip.

"Well, I'm not exactly a stranger." Qrow said as he stepped out of the brush. "No need for the scowl, it's only me." He said with a grin. He had been out taking pot shots at a Target billboard and a few of the shells had fallen, breaking some twigs on the ground. There was little to nothing to actually do at camp right now, and no one could really stop him from leaving, so he saw no problem with it.

Brynne raised an eyebrow at the figure that stepped out of the brush. His remark made her raised eyebrows form into a tight glare as she didn't lower her weapon. Whoever this kid was, she didn't like him. "Me who?" the demigod demanded, her steel-eyed gaze fixed on the boy.

He seemed all too at ease, like he was up to something fishy. "Identify yourself," Brynne said sharply. The wind was still whipping at her face, taking strands of caramel hair out of her ponytail and brushing it across her face.

"The name is Qrow. With a Q." He said with an extravagant bow. "And you are Brynne, a member of the 1st. What do I owe the pleasure?" He asked. He hasn't expected to see anyone else outside of camp, so he was genuinely curious. He started twirling his staff in his hands, flipping it over and over and over again aimlessly and without really paying attention to it.

Brynne felt like she had seem the boy somewhere before, he was about her age, so it was possible. However, she had a feeling that she didn't want to know the guy, Qrow. With a Q. His bow only made her expression remain sour, as her eyes widened. He knew her name. Brynne was fine with people knowing her name, but those people knew her. This Qrow kid didn't.

"How do you know my name?" she asked in a controlling tone. Most kids answered immediately when she asked them questions, but his demigod seemed way to at ease. Qrow's staff spinning didn't ease her suspicion. Her expression was more relaxed, despite her demanding glare, but she didn't lower her weapon yet.

"How could I not? Everyone in the 1st is practically a celebrity. All high and mighty, you guys may as well be the Olympians." Qrow stated, his voice thick with sarcasm and teasing. He stopped twirling his staff and jumped, stabbing the staff into the ground and landing his jump so that he was sitting on it. "And you're no exception. You're one of the best fighters in camp. Again I say, how could I not know your name?" He asked. He wasn't kidding this time. Everyone knew Brynne was one of the best. Qrow yawned, his eyes fluttering shut for one moment before he lost his balance and fell off his staff and onto the ground. Instead of groaning in pain, he just paused for a moment before bursting out into laughter. That was just the kind of person he was. Qrow A'Ris of the 3rd Cohort.

brynne amelia carson

Brynne listened to his reply without interruption, because it was true. If you were in the First, you were in the big leagues, you were unstoppable in the eyes of the Legion. Everyone knew and chanted your name. You were hope. The demigod held herself to such standards, even though it was near impossible. Qrow was also being sarcastic beyond belief in his words, which only made her tense up again.

"You could live under a rock," she remarked with pride. It was true, she was one of the best. Brynne wasn't praetor or anything, but she was pretty good as far as the first cohort went. The demigod wasn't amused by his staff seat trick, and found it rather annoying.

Qrow's burst of laughter was more disturbing than anything else, and reminded her why she was in the first. She wasn't an idiot. "What the hell are you playing at?" Brynne asked. "What were you doing out here?"

"I'm more of a cloud guy than a rock guy." He admitted after catching his breath from laughing. "As for what I'm doing out here, I was bored." He simply stated with a shrug of his shoulders. He knew Brynne was a warrior, but somehow he didn't expect her to be this hostile. He started walking around quite aimlessly, continuing to talk regardless of if he was facing her. "So what's up with you? Were you born this way or did someone twist you up this tight?" He asked, poking her shoulder as he did.

Cloud. This guy was a son of Aeolus. Great, an airhead. His reason for wandering so close to the border seemed lame and overused, leaving Brynne to not believe it. "Bored, huh? That stinks," she said icily.

Her eyes followed his movements, as she gripped her spear tighter. Brynne didn't hesitate to shove him back as he touched her. "Don't touch me," she hissed, with a fire in her eyes. "Born this way," Brynne remarked without hesitation. "It's in my blood, unlike you. What's in yours?" she crinkled her nose in distaste.

"Did someone have too much sugar this morning?"

"Yeah, it does doesn't it?" He replied, mocking her hostility. He jumped into the air and flipped upside down, hovering there at eye level to continue to conversation. "What, do you mean like this?" He asked, poking her forehead and pushing himself away in the process. "My blood? Well, my blood contains plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets... I think that's all of them. As for this:" He said, doing a flip in the air before landing back on his feet "It's a little thing called ADHD. Most demigods have it, but I assume you already knew that."

Brynne scowled at his mockery, tempted to shout accusations at him. Things she could do or get him in trouble for. The list was long, but her blood was already boiling, telling him off wouldn't do her any good. "Shut up," she muttered, still attempting to glare into his soul. If he had one. Who knew, he could be all giggles and nothing else.

Brushing the hair out of her face with her free hand, the demigod frowned. "Aren't you intelligent?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. Deciding that she could take him with her fists, she clicked the spear back into a necklace and slung it around her neck. "You must have ADHD the worst I've ever seen," Brynne said a matter o factly, crossing her arms.

Qrow easily laughed off her death glares. "Geez... If looks could kill." He left the statement open ended, the meaning easily being conveyed regardless. "Intelligent? I suppose. But the contents of blood are pretty much common knowledge, aren't they?" He asked, flipping again so that he was hanging from a tree branch. He grinned when she put her weapon away, and mimicked her actions, placing his own staff behind his back and into it's sheath. He swung back and forth lazily, before replying "Well, Aeolus isn't exactly the most.... level minded. What else could you expect? I'm just glad I don't have to wear a headpiece like he does. The voices already in my head are more than enough, I don't need everyone else's as well." He joked.

Brynne rolled her eyes at his comments, knowing he wasn't going to stop running his mouth anytime soon. It must be in his personality description, or something, because he wouldn't shut up. "You'd be dead," she muttered, raising an eyebrow at Qrow.

Her gaze met his has he flipped up into a tree, her arms still crossed. "One would think that you'd be at least reasonable," Brynne replied. Voices in his head. She was sure he had lots of those. "But what were you doing? I will have to escort you in if you don't answer."

"Yeah, you would." He stated quite flatly in response to her 'reasonable' comment. "Like I said, I was bored. I took my rifle and started some... Target practice." He snickered a bit at the pun in his last sentence. The billboard was still easily visible, and if you looked really closely you could see small black marks in the very center that were bullet holes. He swung his spear out from behind it's back and twirling it in his hands. The staff transformed as he did, the scope, handle, trigger, magazine and all other components folding out from hidden compartments until he was holding a CheyTac 4200 model sniper rifle. He swung it into a position that he fired from and seemed to stop. An almost deadly calm came over him and he fired a shot. To her it would appear to be into the distance, but he was aiming for a pre-existing hold in a tree about 500 meters away. Through the scope he saw he bullet land right on target, impaling itself into the middle of the hole. He swung the rifle and twirled it so it transformed back into it's staff form and sheathed it once again. Qrow let out a large yawn, before saying "You know, I'm not sure why, but I'm really tired. Can we go back now?"

Brynne raised her eyebrow at the boy's reason, trying to think of a possible flaw in it. Target practice. What was he practicing on? Nothing around the area seemed messed up or damaged, but she couldn't be sure. She didn't trust Qrow, at all.

Hearing the change of a weapon, her dark eyes shot up to the boy, who was holding a rifle in his hands. Brynne was about to say something before he fired at a distant target. "Put your weapon away!" she scolded with a frown settling upon her face again. The girl ran a hand through her hair angrily as she uncrossed her arms.

"Sure, whatever," she muttered, jogging off the way she came. The demigod guessed he would follow, flying or walking, she didn't really care.

He laughed, floating off towards her. He was laying down, his head leaned back so he was upside down and floating at the same speed she was jogging. "Why so serious?" He asked with a crazy grin, obviously making a reference. "You should learn to lighten up." He stated in a matter-of-fact way. Qrow's face lit up "Maybe I can help!" With a mischievous glint in his eye, he righted himself so he was standing still about a foot off the ground and then flicked one of his hands upwards. Brynne left the ground with his hand movement, floating about a meter off the ground. Well, she wasn't floating so much as being pushed upwards by a torrent of air. He landed on the ground, waiting for her reaction. She wasn't in any danger, but he figured it would annoy her. Although, considering how easy it seemed to annoy her, that wasn't saying much. He was going to have so much fun around her.

Brynne Carson
Brynne stiffed as he continued with his joking manner. She didn't have time for jokes, the Legion surely didn't either. The girl was interested in the best for the camp, and if that meant ignoring annoying people, she would gladly oblige. "Why so annoying?" she responded harshly, glaring through her words. Her brown eyes rolled at his comments, no matter how funny they could seem to someone else. Brynne was different compared to most people, and for good reason.

Her speed continued briskly, as she tried to keep her hands at her side and resist the urge to snap the boy's neck. Brynne caught her breath as she felt her feet levitating off of the ground for a brief moment, glaring as she came back down. "Stop that!" she snapped irritably.

"Annoying? Well, that's a matter of opinion my dear." He teased, giving her his usual stupid grin. He made sure she wasn't hurt when she dropped, snickering a bit as she attempted to command him. As her gaze became more and more frustrated, his amusement increased exponentially. He caught his breath, sighing with a smile on his face as his laughter faded, before floating after Brynne, who had begun to storm off. With a bit of a snicker, he created small puffs of air directly underneath her feet, causing he to be off balance with almost every step. "You didn't say the magic word sweetheart." He said, sticking his tongue out at her for a moment, before causing a blast of wind to catch her before she fell.

Brynne Carson
Brynne snorted at his comment, waving it off as she shook her head. This boy was as bad as any came, as far as ignorance went. She caught a glimpse of his childish grin, which stunted her facical expression back into a sneer. "Oh gods, you don't actually think you're funny, do you?" the demigod asked. Romans didn't have time for fun. Fighting wars wasn't fun, it was difficult and costly. Maybe Qrow hadn't gone through enough to know that yet.

As she walked forth, she felt each step troubling her more and more, like the ground kept shifting. It wasn't until she looked down that Brynne noticed the actual problem. He was changing the ground's height. Groaning, she snapped him another nasty look, her eyebrows knitting together. With another step, the girl felt herself falling backwards, almost, before returning to a standing position. Scowling, she turned to Qrow, not thinking out her actions before preforming them.

Grabbing him by the fabric of his shirt, the shoved him into the nearest tree she could find. Anger blazed in her eyes, glaring into him as she did slid her elbow onto his chest. "I said stop," Brynne hissed, "Do you understand what that means?"

When she sneered, he couldn't help but let out a short laugh. "Oh, I don't think I'm funny. I know I'm funny!" Qrow couldn't keep a straight face if he tried, not that he was trying to. He landed on the ground, the feeling of solidity beneath his feet seeming a bit unfamiliar. Qrow hadn't been in a war. He had never killed a person, but he had been through some tough times. His life had taken a turn for the worse about 3 years ago, only a year after he had joined camp. Even he himself only had a fractured memory of the event, but from that point onward he decided to enjoy life no matter what. When Brynne grabbed his shirt and shoved him against the tree, his head snapped back, hitting the tree hard enough to daze him. When he had the chance to clear his mind, he simply smiled and said "I know what it means. I just refuse to acknowledge it's existence without proper manners being used while saying it." His smile morphed into his trademark grin, and he waited for her reaction. Not that he could do much else except wait, as she still had him pinned to the tree about a foot in the air.

Brynne Carson
Brynne wasn't phased by more of his remarks. They were beginning to become dull, and very predictable. Qrow reminded her of those annoying kids she would train with when she was younger, the kind that were always optimistic and loud. She hated those kids. Maybe it was the fact that they couldn't be serious, or maybe Brynne just had a tendency to hate everyone. Either or, really.

Pressing harder into the boy's chest, she rolled her eyes. "I doubt that." the girl muttered, backing off and releasing whatever hold she had on the boy. He wasn't worth her time. "I may not be a great example of a Roman," Brynne said slowly. "But you're a hell of a lot worse."

Although Brynne had released him, he stayed off the ground. Qrow shot up and flipped upside-down, putting his head at the same level as Brynne's. "A Roman? Somehow I doubt you're Italian. Let me clear something up really quick. 1. I don't pretend to be a Roman. I don't try to be a Roman. I'm American, a Chicago native. 2. You are a great example of a Roman, which means you're also a great example as to why I don't try to be a Roman. 3. The reason I'm 'a hell of a lot worse' is because being Roman isn't my aim. My aim is simply to live. Not be alive, mind you, but to live. There's a big difference." Being who he was, he stayed upside down, regardless of the slightly more serious tone to his voice. His big grin had turned to just a smile as he talked, and his face was starting to go a bit red. "Why are you trying so hard?" He asked, leaving what exactly she was trying for ambiguous.
